What’s going on with Black Diamond Bay?

I guess it’s been a while since I checked in. For that I apologize.  Here’s what’s up:

As you may or may not have heard, I’ve re-joined The Dears. I took a hiatus from the band after recording Missiles in 2008 in order to nurture and develop Black Diamond Bay. New bands need a lot of time and devotion, and at the time it was just not possible for me to juggle the two.  Now, things are different. BDB has established itself enough to make a lot of things possible. Though it’s going to consume my entire existence, I plan on touring the two bands without any restraint. My role in The Dears has changed since my return, I’ve been co-writing with Murray and it’s been pretty amazing! Denying that opportunity was not an option for me, nor would it have been a sane one.  Typically I write more music than I can keep up with so I’ll always need to put it out through different channels, whether it be Krief, Black Diamond Bay or behind the scenes writing that you’ll never know is me. ....

Last night, Piccioni came by my place. We drank tequila, smoked way too many cigarettes and listened to about 30 of the 60 plus songs I had demoed for the next record. We narrowed the list down to about 21 songs. July 14th will be the first recording session. ....

Expect something completely different, and expect to see some tour dates in the fall. ....

Looking forward to sharing all of this music with you. ....

With Love, ....

After a sold out show at Montreal’s Sala Rosa in November, Black Diamond Bay returns to play a series of intimate shows in a smaller more intimate environment. The band will be performing a set of new and older material at L’esco on St Denis.

“We wanted to trail off our album cycle the way it started.. in small bars.”

This is a rare chance to see Black Diamond Bay in an intimate setting, and for only 5 bucks!

Black Diamond Bay has invited The Heavy hands to open the set... “great band, and great drinkers to set the tone properly” http://www.facebook.com/#!/pages/The-Heavy-Hands/208487745890?ref=ts

April 29th @ L'esco 4467a Rue St-Denis, montreal - (514) 842-7244

Alexandre Lapointe:

Some of you may have noticed a new guy on stage with us on the last tour. Alex Lapointe is the newest addition to Black Diamond Bay. He’s replacing our friend (and my cousin) Andre Bendahan. There’s no bad blood or drama in this departure. He cut off his hair, and well... we just couldn’t have any of that so…

In all seriousness, Andre has moved on to focus on his film career (director/writer/cameraman/editor) as well as his other band Final Flash. We wish him luck in all his endeavors.

Alex is truly a phenomenal musician and a great person. We’re honored and very excited to have him.

Thanks for your time with us Andre (CF) it was absolutely beautiful, we love you and will miss you.

Now moving forward... welcome Alex!! The future is wide open ;)

Much love and see you on the road soon... loads of touring in the near and distant future.

Patrick x
